* Philosophically Barefoot

I realized today that walking barefoot is a lot like life, well my life anyway. While walking barefoot, a person can really feel where she is at and cannot look too far ahead. Instead, one must focus on the area into which she will be stepping next. It's amazing how many new details a person can see - even when walking in familiar territory - when focus is taken off of the big picture.

Interesting. Take a bunch of really common person-elements and throw them together to get something truely exceptional... that's you. You are probably someone that gave up on trying to understand society at large a long time ago. You don't fear it, but you don't try to be one with it either. You are more or less unperturbed by things... if a problem comes up you might deal with it, or you might avoid it... whatever. You don't take kindly to people pushing you around, and you don't really push anyone else around. You're probably the only one that can tame oxygen simply because you don't understand it's raging neediness, but that doesn't mean that you'll really enjoy having a tame oxygen hanging around all that much either. You can probably get along with people like yourself really well, but you aren't your own soulmate... if only they could make entire colonies of people like you you'd be stoked. Just like you don't understand society, society doesn't understand you... and yes that is my excuse for not knowing how to describe you better.

* I Don't Have a Permit to Park my A** here

KQ late night fun. :) Where else can you find a bar shaped like a monopoly house, in WISCONSIN. Send a married woman to find a man at a bar - any bar. Fight random strangers using foam weaponry. Spend a lot of time in a computer lab googling like crazy... yeah.

26 hours of trivia, 2 hours of sleepy, priceless. :)

* Soar in Four?

So I realize as I drive through campus on my way home from work that there a those my age that took longer to graduate than I did, those my age still in school, those my age still in school for a while, those older than me still in school, those much older than me back in school, etc...

There are people who flounder while in college, take their time to get out. Then there was me: I did as the man lauds and got in and out efficiently in four years. Now, I get to flounder for the rest of my life. Maybe, the man is wrong.

Pharisee Nation

Pharisee Nation

Some highlights:

As I travel the country speaking out against war, injustice and nuclear weapons, I see many people consciously siding with the culture of war, choosing the path of violence, supporting corporate greed, rampant militarism, and global domination. Since most of these people, beginning with the President, claim to be Christian, I am ashamed and appalled that they support war and systemic injustice, that they do it in the name of God, and that they feign fidelity to the nonviolent Jesus who gave his life resisting institutionalized injustice.

We have become a culture of Pharisees. Instead of practicing an authentic spirituality of compassion, nonviolence, love and peace, we as a collective people have become self-righteous, arrogant, powerful, murderous hypocrites who dominate and kill others in the name of God.

Jesus commands that we love one another, love our neighbors, seek justice, forgive those who hurt us, pray for our persecutors, and be as compassionate as God. But at the center of his teaching is the most radical declaration ever uttered: "love your enemies."

If we dare call ourselves Christian, we cannot support war or nuclear weapons or corporate greed or executions or systemic injustice of any kind.

* I guess that answers that...

So the answer is: no, this blogging thing really doesnt have a longer life span than a child's toy. So, it needs a little revamping, a little updating: which I will do now. Maybe for another day or so. Then, I'll probably forget about it for another four months...
